Junction Solutions Releases New White Paper on the Value of ERP Solutions Designed Specifically for Food and Beverage Industry

Paper discusses new technologies for improved lot tracking on batch-processed goods.

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill.-- Junction Solutions, a leading provider of vertical industry-focused enterprise software and services built on the Microsoft platform, today released a new white paper entitled “Tracing the Genealogy of an Outbreak.” The paper reveals the benefits associated with implementing industry-relevant ERP software, including an increased level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

Until recently, the ability to quickly trace contaminated goods back to the source has been unreliable and disorganized. Many food and beverage processors still rely on hand-recorded entries or software designed for discreet manufacturing environments. The E. coli-tainted spinach outbreak, where it took weeks instead of hours to find the source of the contamination, is just the latest example showing the consequences of such delays. Nick Bova, General Manager, Food & Beverage at Junction Solutions, contends that ERP software designed for a batch production environment is the answer to this troublesome issue.

“This software provides automated, end-to-end management of every lot, allowing items such as produce to be traced both backward to the individual grower and field, and forward to the batch number of every finished product in which that lot was used,” explains Bova. “This complete transparency from field to shelf reduces the time it takes to perform a trace from hours (or days in the case of a record error) to just minutes. Processors are thus able to react quickly in order to protect themselves and their customers while assuring they are able to meet Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines.”
