2006 shows increase in weblogs and personal spaces writing about Microsoft Dynamics AX

I would like to share some ideas of mine about how we can improve access to weblogs and personal spaces but I would also like to elaborate a bit about the name of Microsoft Dynamics AX. Maybe you already noticed the Poll that is running on the Axapta Knowledge Village. More about that later.

A few years ago, may 2004, when the Axapta Knowledge Village weblog started there were only a few weblogs talking about Microsoft Dynamics AX, Axapta at that time.

The (past) year 2006 the number of people writing about Microsoft Dynamics AX on their personal space or weblog has shown a huge increase. I think it even doubled the year 2005 /2004 counting the number of links I added to this weblog (almost 25).

Judging from the number of daily visitors of the Axapta Knowledge Village and the Axapta Lessons Learned (average of 60) there are many people out there looking for success stories, breaking news, implementation experiences, product knowledge and so on.

There remains a need for high quality weblogs or websites that write about Microsoft Dynamics AX. I am still waiting for Solution Partners to open up their weblog and share their experiences. My apologies to those who already do so, please let us know. The others I encourage to start right now. Have a look at the web2.0 market (AJAX, FLASH, ...) there are a lot of upcoming players that maintain a company weblog where they talk about their products and share information with users and visitors. Sure I know the main reason for doing so is to get the attention of people but is that not what every company wants.

Let us go back to the weblogs and personal spaces. Last day I counted almost 40 weblogs / personal spaces out there talking about Microsoft Dynamics AX.

You probably wonder where can I find all these weblogs / personal spaces. There are several ways. Some weblogs are accessible through a Grazr Box running on the Axapta Knowledge Village. Others you can find under the heading Fellow Bloggers. And of course you can always Google or maintain a list of sites yourselve.

But! To make surfing easier for you the Business Solutions Webring started. A webring is a collection of websites, weblogs or personal spaces organized around a specific theme. The main theme of the Business Solutions Webring is Microsoft Dynamics AX and ADDON's . Websites participating in the Business Solutions Webring have a navigation status bar where you can click on the links Next or Previous to surf to the next participant. Currently the Axapta Knowledge Village and Axapta Lessons Learned are part of the webring. Hopefully others will follow and everyone gets a great surfing experience.

The other thing that struked me the last weeks is people starting to talk more and more about DAX in stead of Microsoft Dynamics AX. It is logical to me, people like to use short names for things they talk about daily and I mean very short names. If you are not convinced then ask yourselve how many times during the day you have to mention the name Microsoft Dynamics AX. Personally I am always strugling with the words Microsoft Dynamics AX and I contineously have to explain people what the AX stands for. Seems nobody has a problem understanding the word SAP or do you.

Axapta was short, easy to shout and remember. Will it become DAX ! It is as short as SAP ! and no strugling.

Let us now how you feel. We are running a Poll on the Axapta Knowledge Village for the coming three months to find out the name all of you prefer to use. The Poll is not at all related to Microsoft, it is an initiative of the Knowledge Village. It is just for fun! But maybe, you never know. If you want to know what the status is then click on 3 vertical colored stripes in the right corner.

Have a nice surfing experience and keep it simple .
