Wellpoint Systems Inc. announces appointment of chief financial officer

CALGARY, Alberta, WellPoint Systems Inc. - The Board of Directors of WellPoint Systems Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. J. Bruce Petrie as Chief Financial Officer of WellPoint Systems Inc. effective July 4, 2006.

Mr. Petrie is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and until recently held the position of Chief Financial Officer of Ridgeway Petroleum Corp., and previously has held senior financial management positions with Gulf Canada Resources Limited, Hiram Walker Resources Limited and Norcen Energy Resources Limited. “The addition of Bruce to WellPoint’s management team ensures that shareholders will continue to benefit from strong financial expertise”, said Frank Stanford, WellPoint’s Chief Executive Officer.
