Sika S.A. España Enhances MBS Axapta Document Generation with FormScape V3

Sika is a global company based in Switzerland that specializes in the production and distribution of chemicals for the construction industry. Before 2005, the Sika S.A. España division generated documents using numerous types of multipart stationery and ageing dot-matrix printers, which were costly to maintain. Documents were printed in a central location and shipped to branch offices via post.

The benefits of decentralizing the print function were clear. But unless the company could resolve the problems relating to the management of the matrix printers, it would only replicate them across multiple sites. At the same time, the company wished to address the challenges of physical archives, including file management, security risks, and lost and misplaced documents.

Sika considered two solutions: FormScape V3 or developing additional functionality within the Axapta ERP environment. It rejected the second option as too time-consuming and requiring special skills to deliver.

During the summer of 2005, Sika's IT department implemented FormScape V3 and FormScape DocsOnline. After only two weeks of development effort, Sika had successfully decentralized the printing processes, reducing shipping costs and ensuring that formatting changes were immediate and simultaneous in all offices. By replacing the matrix printers with laser technology, Sika was able to employ a single type of stationery to generate any document and to significantly improve its corporate image and enhance the quality of its customer-facing documents. The use of FormScape DocsOnline enabled employees to improve efficiency and customer service.
