Axapta Underlying Technology

Programming Language
The Axapta kernel is developed in C++. The object oriented nature of this language is carried on through the application.

The application is written using the Axapta development tools and source code written in X++.
X++ is a Java-derivate with embedded SQL support. X++ uses object-oriented programming principles such as encapsulation, inheritance, classes, objects, methods, and properties.
The language has Java-like syntax and incorporates SQL data manipulation statements.

The development environment in Axapta is called MorphX.

Database
Axapta runs on either the Microsoft SQL Server or the Oracle database.
The database is used as a data storage location only.

The database design is contained within the Axapta Application Object Tree.
The design is simply pushed from the local data dictionary onto the database data dictionary.

Source Code
Axapta MorphX development environment is available to everyone (license required).

We are AIM Computer Systems, Fraser, MI. We have a robust front end for production automotive part manufacturers that provides for the AIAG/MMOG required EDI mapping, demand aggregation, demand alignment, Barcode labels. the EDI, Release accounting and barcode modules are fully integrated, and interface to an Axapta package at the order entry [production demand]and shipping points.
I can be reached at jerryc@aimcom.com
this software is running in over 50 automotive part manufacturers. it is presently written in Progress, but we are planning on converting to a .net or "axapta" type of environment.
Is there anyone out there who:
-needs software like this
-has converted programs from Progress to Axapta
-would like to get more info on what we do
-knows Mike Merfeld
